Minutes of the Disaster Cell Meeting & Curriculum Committee Meeting (6th January 2012 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi )

The Disaster Cell & Curriculum Committee Meeting was held on 6^th January 2012 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi at 11 am.

Meeting started with the Recitation from the Holy Quran.

Prof. Dr. Zareen Fasih gave a brief presentation on the establishment of Disaster Cell – PPA Centre on 29^th September 2011 and elaborated on the need, objective, functional organization and future plans of the Cell.

Dr. Tufail M. Khan presented the WHO curriculum on Disaster Management and IPA Curriculum and discussed the pros and cons of each.

Dr. Gohar Rehman presented the Curriculum and Workshop structure of the project at KPK in detail.

It was decided that the Curriculum will be need based and will be a mixture of all the 3 curricula.

5 Master Trainees Workshop will be held at Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

Funding will be sought for these Workshops as the Emergency Relief Funds will be inadequate to hold such Workshops with 20 participants.

Focal provincial disaster team will be developed.
